I’m happy to announce that TwoDot Books will be publishing my travel narrative about my summer 2021 Bikepacking trip on the Pony Express Trail. Expected publication date is 2023.
In the meantime, I’m writing, editing, and footnoting like crazy, and enjoying reliving the trip. Even the bad parts. Though I have to say, I don’t remember being as tired as I always seem to be in my blog posts. There’s a word for that: “Randonnesia.” It’s the term long-distance cyclists (“randonneurs”) use when they forget how bad they felt riding their last event. It’s this selective amnesia that enables us to go out and do it again . . . except when it doesn’t. I will never go back on my vow never to ride a 600k (375-mile) or 1200k (750-mile) ever again. Period. It’s been over 10 years, and I still remember how much those hurt.
I will keep the blog up to date on any developments, but this is a long process, so don’t hold your breath. In the meantime, stay well!
Fantastic! I run a bikepacking blog and book directory over at BikeSleepBike and I will definitely include your book once it’s published (already linked to your blog there). Thanks for sharing so much helpful information about this intriguing route.
Wow, Scott, catching up here. Look forward to more adventures! Glenda
Thanks Glenda!
That is SO AWESOME!! Congratulations Scott. Life is good. 🙂
Thanks! I feel very lucky, both to do the ride and to be able to write about it.
