In August 2023 I spoke at the Oregon-California Trails Association (OCTA) annual convention in Gering, Nebraska. The title of my talk was “Nuggets of Truth on the Pony Express Trail.” The talk traced the path of my bikepacking trip on the Pony Express Trail, stopping at points along the way to discuss the myths of the Pony Express, the sources of the myths, and the truths that belie them.
